Volcanic lava fountain at night. Lava fountain. Lava fountain during a volcanic eruption at night. Lava is molten rocked which has seeped up from the Earth's outer core (mantle) through cracks in our planet's crust. The lava is forced out because of the high underground pressures. Some of the lava constituents become gaseous as the pressure reduces; these gases force out the lava explosively to form lava fountains. Photographed on the island of Bali, Indonesia.
